Aviation Research at AuraQuest is focused on a wide variety of technologies gear towards better automation, fuel efficiency, and lower cost production. Our technology focus includes such areas as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), flight system integration, improved scheduling and reservation systems, and image recognition, just to name a few. Check out our on-going blog for more info.
With the introduction of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) into the civilian airspace, integration with existing rules and procedures has become difficult. In the current environment, UAVs may only operate in Restrict Airspace or Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) have to be maintained for UAVs to operate in an area, disrupting local general and commercial aviation traffic.
In order to improve safety, research into integration of UAVs into the national airspace system and abroad is required. This includes the ability to interact with other aircraft, both cooperative and uncooperative, using “detect and avoid” techniques, integrate into existing flight patterns, and communicate intentions to both pilots and Air Traffic Control (ATC).
